Will rain effect the scent trail?

Rain is not as detrimental to scent as a lot of people think. Believe it or not, rain can actually benefit scent work by holding scent closer to the ground and also by increasing the strength of the scent. Rain is not something we are typically concerned with.

In other words, heavy flooding & run off will be treated differently than a light rain. A well trained team knows how to work with rain and where to move their K-9.

What if I don’t have a scent article specific to my lost pet? My pets share everything…

We try our best to help you find something that has only the lost pet’s scent on it. This makes the search dogs’ jobs much easier. If you have multiple pets in the home and they share everything, then please consult with your EPIC partner to see what will work.

How do you gain access to private property?

We cannot trespass. Prior to your search, you will need to get permission from property owners in the surrounding areas. Otherwise, we ask permission as we go during the search.

What is your success rate?

TEAM EPIC on average has about a 70% success rate. This is an AVERAGE. It can vary.

I filled out the Lost Pet Form and it has been 15 hours and no one from TEAM EPIC has contacted me. What do I do?

All team members of TEAM EPIC either have FT jobs or are in the field helping others during the day. Most call backs are made in the evenings. Please allow up to 24 hours for someone to contact you. If you do not hear from us within that time frame, then feel free to email us at lostpets@epicanimalrecovery.org or reach out via FB messenger.

When is it too late to bring the search dogs out?

We will do searches up to 2-3 weeks, depending on the details of your case. The longer you wait for us to come out, the more difficult it can be to work your case. There are many variables that can effect scent viability. Please reach out and we can discuss your situation.

Will you travel?

YES!! We will go wherever we are needed, as long as our schedule permits.
